Beloved rock n’ soulers the Alabama Shakes performed at the Ascend Amphitheatre in Nashville, TN two nights ago, April 21st. Of course, the performance came just hours after the news of Prince’s death broke, closing an unforgettable chapter in music history. Just last year, the worlds of Prince and the Alabama Shakes collided, as Prince invited the Shakes to his Paisley Park mansion for a performance. He even sat in with them and played a roaring guitar solo on the bluesy song “Gimme All Your Love.”Naturally, when the Shakes set up to perform the blues number, they dimmed the lights to a haunting shade of purple, and allowed for Brittany Howard to speak about the lost legend. “We lost another great treasure today,” she said. “It was very unfortunate, and very sad news when we heard it. I’d like to dedicate this song right here to Prince, because this is a song that he played with us. I just want to let him know we love him, we miss him, and God bless him. May he rest in peace.”While the band didn’t join so many others in playing Prince’s music, they certainly felt the loss just as strongly as any other. The innovative partnership goes beyond the so-called code-sharing and includes cooperation on the integration of destination networks of the two airlines and harmonization of flight schedules. The new model will provide flydubai passengers with a simple and easy connection to Emirates destinations around the world, covering as many as six continents, and Emirates passengers will have at their disposal a strong regional network of destinations offered by flydubai. „This is an exciting and significant development for the Emirates, flydubai and aviation in Dubai. Both airlines have grown independently and successfully over the years, and the new partnership will create immense value that complementary models from both airlines can bring to passengers, each airline separately and Dubai.“HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, CEO of flydubai, said the partnership will be launched over the coming months, with the first improved code-sharing arrangement starting in the last quarter of 2017. More information will be available and released soon.Emirates today has a wide-hull fleet of 259 aircraft and flies to 157 destinations, while flydubai has a fleet of 58 New-Generation Boeing 737 aircraft flying to 95 destinations, and the current combined network includes 216 unique destinations.
