Price crash makes renewable developer Ørsted most valuable Nordic company, topping oil-driven Equinor

first_imgPrice crash makes renewable developer Ørsted most valuable Nordic company, topping oil-driven Equinor FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享Reuters:The oil price crash has led to Danish offshore wind developer Ørsted overtaking Norwegian oil major Equinor as the most valuable energy company in the Nordics, highlighting the appeal to investors of renewables over fossil fuels.Shares in Equinor slid nearly 18% on Monday as crude prices plunged 25% after top producers Saudi Arabia and Russia began a price war that threatens to swamp global oil markets with supply. At around 09:00 GMT on Tuesday, Equinor’s market value stood at $42 billion, while Ørsted was valued at $45 billion, according to share information on the companies’ websites, the first time Ørsted has overtaken the Norwegian company. The drop in oil prices on Monday was the biggest one-day percentage drop since Jan. 17, 1991 at the outset of the first Gulf War, and for investors highlighted the risk of investing in oil companies. As well as volatile crude prices, oil producers have also been hit by a global shift away from heavily polluting fossil fuels.Ørsted, formerly named DONG Energy, has seen its shares gain more than 40% over the past year, while shares in Equinor have fallen by around the same margin. Ørsted has been rebranding itself as a ‘renewable major’ after it sold its oil and gas business in 2017, courting investors interested in green investments which have seen a boost thanks to policies to protect the environment.“All investors look at Ørsted and say: Here we buy into the future and when they look at the oil companies, including Equinor, they buy into the past,” said head of equity research at Sydbank Jacob Pedersen.[Stine Jacobsen, Nerijus Adomaitis]More: Oil crash makes Danish wind power firm the Nordics’ biggest energy companylast_img read more

Wilder Engages Anthony Joshua in Mind Game

first_img“Anthony will fight anyone and, as we have stated a thousand times, he wants to be the undisputed champion.“If he beats Joseph Parker then he just needs one more belt. Wilder doesn’t have a promoter so is on a one-man salesman mission – get your head on Ortiz, let us deal with Parker then join us back in the real world and this fight will get made very quickly.”Joshua, 28, will meet New Zealander Parker in Cardiff, with the winner then likely to face the undefeated Wilder. No boxer has held all four heavyweight belts simultaneously. In November, Joshua insisted he was not “ducking” any fighter, adding he would fight Wilder on “my terms”.“I don’t think Joshua has enough confidence in himself to fight me,” said Wilder. “It’s all on them. If he really wants it, he can make it happen.“I see the Parker v Joshua fight going into the later rounds. I like Parker’s movement.“With Joshua’s big frame and being muscular, that’s OK to look the part but can he get out of the way of Parker’s punches and maintain his stamina holding all that?”Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegram *Insists the Briton does not have the confidence to fight himBritain’s Anthony Joshua is a “cash cow” being ‘milked’ by his promoter Eddie Hearn, fellow world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder alleged yesterday.WBC champion Wilder, 32, thinks Joshua – who has the IBF and WBA belts – does not have the “confidence” to fight him.The American, who fights Luis Ortiz on Saturday, told the BBC: “I don’t believe Hearn wants this fight at all.”Hearn responded: “It’s the biggest fight in world boxing… and I always make the biggest fights possible.”Wilder will put his WBC belt on the line against Ortiz in New York, before Joshua meets WBO champion Joseph Parker in a unification bout on 31 March.“We’re ready on this side of the pond,” said Wilder.“Joshua is like a cow, Eddie Hearn is milking him for every dollar. There have been no negotiations at all, no deal has been offered. But the world wants to see me and Joshua get in the ring.”Hearn, also speaking to the BBC, said: “Deontay Wilder has tried to sell his whole fight on Anthony Joshua – he should worry about Luis Ortiz.last_img read more

I love it, I love critics and it just makes me better. I love seeing people say I can’t do this and I’m going to go out there and work on it and come back the next game or whenever I can and show that I can do this.”Simmons, the No. 1 overall pick last year, can’t wait to make his NBA debut after missing an entire season because of a broken right foot. Now it is a target because Cristiano is the best player in the world and we need him to make the last step.“It’s the personality of Cristiano.
