On the eve of the World Tourism Day, September 26, 2019, the City of Mali Lošinj and the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj in the Museum of Apoxyomenos traditionally awarded prizes and recognitions to employees who contributed to the development of tourism in the destination. For exceptional contribution to the development of tourism, a special award was given to Bolt Gaberšek, long-time president of the Mountaineering Association Osoršćica and a member of the HGSS who often participated in numerous rescue operations. He is responsible for arranging and marking all hiking trails on the island of Lošinj. This year, too, special awards were given, so for innovations in the tourist offer, the award was given to Ivan Volarić for “Lošinj air in a bottle”. Guided by the idea that the air of Lošinj enriched with drops of salt, minerals and essential oils that are ‘trapped’ in the bottle, Ivan successfully trades in foreign markets. Meritorious for the promotion of the destination this year are: Water Polo Club Lošinj with its International Water Polo Tournament “Good Dolphin”, then the Wind Orchestra “Josip Kašman” with the Festival of Wind Orchestras and Nautical Concert. The “Josip Antun Kraljić” theater is also active, and this year, in addition to smaller islands and places, it also performed at the Nerezinac Camp and the “Leo Brenner” Astronomical Society. The Association of Lošinj Majorettes and the Lošinj klapa Čikat are indispensable and are happy to join all events in the destination and beyond. From year to year, the awarded employees prove that effort and perseverance pay off, because each individual participates in creating impressions about Lošinj. Without quality cooperation of the population with the private and public sector, ie without the efforts of these tourism workers, our tourism would not exist. I thank and congratulate everyone, said the director of the Tourist Board of the City of Mali Lošinj, Dalibor Cvitković.
