But, yes, of course he can. He is capable of it and I’ll be the first one to shake his hand, because it would be a phenomenal feat.”Despite Allen’s goal glut that season, Tottenham fell just short on all fronts — third in the league, FA Cup runners-up and League Cup semi-finalists.Fast forward 32 years and Mauricio Pochettino’s team are in danger of being recalled as another side that did not provide the silverware their strike leader’s form deserved.Allen, 58, said: “From the day Harry came into the club he was a natural goalscorer who wanted to develop.“I saw a kid who was going to get the best out of himself.5 England skipper Kane is fourth on the list of Spurs’ all-time top goalscorersCredit: Alamy Live News“He worked out that, if you are going to score over a long period, you have to reinvent yourself all the time, find something different.“With Harry, it’s about looking to find that edge. If he scores one, he wants to get two. You can’t give that to people, it’s something you have to be born with.“When you look at striking records, you see the ones who have that in their make-up. Sergio Aguero is one. Harry has it, too.”After his playing career ended in 1995, former Three Lions forward Allen went on to coach Spurs — and it did not take long for him to lock horns with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger. And there was so much bad blood that Allen had to be held back from punching the Frenchman by Tottenham keeper Carlo Cudicini in 2011.He recalled: “At Highbury in 2006 Arsene was furious we didn’t put the ball out of play after Emmanuel Eboue and Gilberto Silva ran into each other in the build-up to Robbie Keane scoring.5 Kane has already banged in seven goals in ten games for the North London club this seasonCredit: Reuters“Thierry Henry equalised for Arsenal and the game finished 1-1 — but that was just the beginning of it.“Chris Hughton and I went and had a chat with Arsene’s backroom staff.“They offered us a glass of wine, when all of a sudden the door slams open and in comes Arsene. ‘I’m not drinking with you,’ he said. ‘You are cheats’.“As I went past Arsene, I looked him in the eye. ‘Don’t call me a cheat,’ I said. ‘I was sitting eight rows back in the dugout. I didn’t cheat.’ ‘You are all cheats,’ he said.“From that point on, all I wanted to do was shake his hand as a winner.“In October 2011, Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Walker scored as we won 2-1 at White Hart Lane.LATEST TOTTENHAM NEWSHARRY ALL FOUR ITKane admits Spurs must win EIGHT games to rise into Champions League spotGossipALL GONE PETE TONGVertonghen wanted by host of Italian clubs as long Spurs spell nears endBELOW PARRSpurs suffer blow with Parrott to miss Prem restart after appendix operationPicturedSHIRT STORMNew Spurs 2020/21 home top leaked but angry fans slam silver design as ‘awful”STEP BY STEP’Jose fears for players’ welfare during restart as stars begin ‘pre-season’KAN’T HAVE THATVictor Osimhen keen on Spurs move but only if they sell Kane this summer5“I was wrong to do it but at full-time I jumped up and went straight to see him nose to nose.
